Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery Services:

Interlibrary Loan is available to Binghamton University students, faculty, staff, and research associates in good standing. Patrons are responsible for material borrowed. All patrons will be placed on the University Obligations system for lost, damaged, or overdue material.

ILLiad allows us to:

  • Request articles, books and other items not owned by Binghamton University Libraries
  • Deliver articles electronically and track the progress of your ILL requests
  • Efficiently move locally held materials between branches*
  • Provide access to checked out materials with as little disruption to patrons as possible

*Books on the shelf are available on a first come, first served basis. Delivery times for material requested from other branches may vary. Whenever possible, visit the shelf to avoid delay and discover more!

ILL will not borrow books that are identified as textbooks for a Binghamton University course

Borrowing libraries without OCLC

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17. United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy/reproduction is not to be "USED FOR ANY PURPOSES OTHER THAN PRIVATE STUDY, SCHOLARSHIP, or RESEARCH." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes IN EXCESS of fair use, that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
